Ahmedabad is developing rapidly with new buildings, roads, and businesses, but with this fast growth, we must also focus on protecting our environment. To support this goal, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched a 4 Million Tree Plantation Project to make Ahmedabad a cleaner and greener city.

Recently, I joined a tree plantation drive conducted behind the ITC Narmada Hotel, where AMC-owned plots are located. This event was organized under the guidance and support of Hon. Shri Amit Shah, Member of Parliament from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha. It was a proud moment to be part of this environmental movement as a social service worker in Ahmedabad.

4 Million Tree Plantation Project

Why Tree Plantation Matters for Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad faces extreme heat, increasing pollution, and declining green spaces. Trees play an important role in improving air quality, reducing temperature, and providing shade and shelter to both people and wildlife.
This plantation drive is part of AMC’s plan to plant 4 million trees across the city to fight climate change and improve public health. These types of Swachh Bharat social activities not only clean the environment but also help in building a better future for all.

Community Participation Under Strong Leadership

The plantation activity near ITC Narmada was carried out under the supervision of the Riverfront Development Authority and AMC, with active support from Hon. Shri Amit Shah Sir. Local volunteers, students, NGOs, and citizens like me came together for this great cause.

As a social service worker, I believe that such events are a perfect example of how government leadership and public participation can work hand in hand to create positive change.

Planting 400 Trees — A Mission of Green Hope

On the day of the event, we planted around 400 trees across the AMC-owned land behind the hotel. These included neem, gulmohar, amaltas, and other local species that suit Ahmedabad’s climate.

Volunteers arrived early in the morning. With the support of AMC’s staff, we prepared the pits, placed the saplings, added manure, and watered the plants. Each tree planted was a small step towards a greener Ahmedabad.

The event was organized smoothly with proper planning. Gloves, tools, and drinking water were provided. Safety and hygiene were maintained throughout the activity.

Supporting Swachh Bharat Through Green Action

Tree plantation is an important part of Swachh Bharat social activities. While Swachh Bharat focuses on cleaning roads, toilets, and public spaces, planting trees supports the same vision by cleaning our air and environment.

As a social service worker in Ahmedabad, I regularly participate in awareness drives, cleanliness programs, and environmental campaigns. This tree plantation drive fits perfectly into our ongoing mission of a Swachh and Sundar Bharat.

 Inspiring the Next Generation

Many school and college students also joined the plantation. I interacted with them and explained how trees help reduce pollution, attract rain, and provide a healthy environment.

Seeing their interest and excitement gave me hope that the future generation is ready to take responsibility. These events help teach young people the value of nature and their role in preserving it.

 Aftercare and Long-Term Commitment

Planting trees is only the first step. Their survival depends on regular care. AMC has planned regular watering and maintenance for these trees, and volunteers from nearby areas have promised to support the aftercare.

I and my team have also committed to visiting the site regularly to ensure the trees are growing well. We aim to involve nearby residents and children in looking after the plants.

A Simple Message to Everyone

You don’t need to wait for a big event to make a difference. Planting even one tree in your home, society, or school can create a big impact over time.

You can also:

  • Join local Swachh Bharat social activities
  • Support tree plantation in your area
  • Spread awareness about environmental care
  • Work with a social service worker near you

Conclusion

This tree plantation near ITC Narmada Hotel was not organized by me, but I proudly participated along with my team under the leadership of AMC and guidance of Hon. Shri Amit Shah. We planted 400 trees that will one day provide shade, oxygen, and life to our city.

As a committed social service worker in Ahmedabad, I will continue to take part in such Swachh Bharat social activities to make our city better, cleaner, and greener.

Let’s plant trees, protect nature, and take one more step toward a beautiful and healthy Ahmedabad.
